I’ve always known who Chef Gordon Ramsay was. I knew he was a world famous chef and I knew he did a few TV shows. I also knew he was a bit harsh on people who had horrible food.
Then I got my hands on season 1 of Kitchen Nightmares. As of the past week I’ve burned through ¾ of the season and I’m enjoying the hell out of it. Ramsay is in your face, down your throat, and kicking you in the ass. He has zero tolerance for people who don’t try or even make any effort.
So what can we learn from Chef Ramsay?
Passion. Drive. Fire.
That is just to name a few of the things we can learn. His passion has a chef is obviously food but what he can teach us doesn’t relate to just food and cooking but to many aspects of our lives.
After watching him on Kitchen Nightmares I’ve seen him stand up to people and never back down. He is able to grab a situation by the horns and steer it in the direction he wants to it go. This is something we need to do with our own lives.
If there is something you don’t like about your life, change it!
Don’t wait and don’t come up with excuses.
You want to start heading down the minimalist pathway? Start cleaning out that garage or spare room. Find something, some small step that is easy to complete. I can almost guarantee that once you start and see how good it feels to eliminate your excess baggage you won’t want to stop.
Gordon has passion and fire in his belly and heart. You should too. Don’t let that fire die inside you. If you have a dream or something you want to do in life, do it. Make a plan. Start now and don’t wait.
I can speak from experience that it is not easy sometimes. I can also tell you that I am on my plan right now. Every day I am one step closer to my final goal. Every time I donate or throw something away I feel myself inching closer and closer.
Take that first step toward your goal. Once you do, the snow ball rule will take over and you will be on your way.
If you take anything away from this short post it this. The only person in control of your life is you.
Now for some entertainment…Little Gordon
