Before I even start I know what you are thinking. Another person bitching about gas and how horrible it is. I’m not. Honestly it doesn’t bother me at all. I have two rigs. A Toyota pickup for fun and when it snows and a Toyota Tercel for a commuter. My little car gets 40mpg on the Highway and is pretty comfortable. I also paid $400USD for it. I’m not complaining at all…
What I am bitching about is other people. I don’t understand how it is so freaking hard sometimes for people to be nice or thoughtful of other people. Let me set this up for you.
It’s a warm day. About 85-90F. I am waiting in a LONG gas line. I had no choice as I was almost out of gas and didn’t have enough to drive somewhere else. So I wait. Not a big deal. As we creep forward one car at time we suddenly stop. Not just for a few minutes but for sometime. Turns out a fellow up ahead of us is filling up his 55gal drum with gas. Sigh.
As I sit there and wait I can see people behind me getting really upset. They start backing up and looking for a different pump. I’m sitting there with my motor off as to not use more gas the car in front of me pulls up. Mind you there is only empty space and no pump between me and the car ahead of me. People start shooting me dirty looks and waving their arms all around. What point does it server for me to start my car, pull forward about 12ft and then wait.
People just astound me sometimes. They don’t think. They just react.
Here is an idea. Stop…look around…think..then act. It will save you a lot of time, money, effort, energy, etc.
As a bonus, here is a picture of the gas prices today at my local Fred Meyer here in Bend, Oregon.
